What is the purpose of running programs, such as Adaware, in Safe Mode?

Why run it in Safe Mode as opposed to normal windows mode? I know Safe Mode is more of a striped down version of the O/S but why is it better to run a program such as Adaware/Spybot, ect in Safe Mode?

Most malware either runs as a process, or attaches itself to a process. Files being use by a process cannot be deleted, and so the malware cannot be removed for as long as the process is active.

Safe-mode is ‘bare-bones’, meaning only vital processes are loaded. This means that the files belonging to malware are not being used, and can be deleted.
